Performance piece: Ikarus Stage Arts

Ikarus Stage Arts will present three different shows during the festival.

The Southern Cimbalom. Metamorfosis. (18 March 21.00 & 20 March 15:00)

In this performance Ikarus Stage Arts will share two extracts of their concerts The Southern Cimbalom and Metamorfosis. The Southern Cimbalom is a concert of solo cimbalom – a Eastern European string/percussion instrument – performed by the Chilean musician Rodrigo Contreras. In a journey through Balkan traditional melodies, original compositions and adaptations of Latin-American music for cimbalom, this concert invites the audience to think over the yearning for home from the point of view of a foreigner.

For the second part of the concert, the rest of the musical ensemble will join the cimbalom in order to perform metamorfosis, a piece that invites to reflect about what can blossom between the ashes of the difficulties life sometimes bring our way . The whole ensemble will continue this journey through international music bringing energy, joy and just the right amount of melancholy to everyone in the room.

Echoes of Celebration (19 March 18:00 & 21.00)

Echoes of celebration is a theatrical concert that wants to celebrate life, express gratitude through songs and create a space to remember those who are no longer among us. In all cultures baptisms, weddings and funerals are the most important celebrations in society.

Amongst these common rituals and manifestations, the singing voice, as an instrument, has always been an important form of expression. This performance will try to recreate old traditions using poems, dance and music from all around the world, sharing with the audience North European, Latin American and Balkan music among others.

Ikarus Stage Arts & Moon Cabaret (18 March 18:00)
